The Department of Anthropology (http://anth.ubc.ca) at The University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver Campus, invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position in Biological Anthropololgy and Anthropological Archaeology with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022.

The position is a one-year term, with a possibility for renewal. Lecturer positions are appointments without review (i.e., non-tenure track), renewable for successive years, subject to availability of funding and demonstration of excellence in teaching, in accordance with the Collective Agreement between UBC and the UBC Faculty Association. The successful candidate will be expected to fulfil service duties as assigned by the Head and to teach Anthropology undergraduate courses focused on biological anthropology and archaeology. Teaching will be assigned based on the needs of the Department and will include sections of introductory courses as well as more advanced courses in the undergraduate curriculum. The ideal candidate will be able to teach in the area of biological anthropology, and also have demonstrated teaching experience in at least three of the following areas: introductory archaeology; primatology; statistics; and methods. Candidates may have an opportunity to develop a new second or third year course in an area of expertise that would complement our program.

Applicants must have completed a PhD in Anthropology or relevant discipline prior to the start date. We are seeking to engage an exceptional teacher who has experience teaching undergraduate anthropology courses. We particularly seek applicants with exceptional communication skills, a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate education, and a substantial record of incorporating technology-enhanced learning in the classroom. Demonstrated excellence in teaching high-enrolment courses is an essential asset for this position.

The teaching load for the position will be 24 credits per year, distributed typically as a 3/3 course load in the Winter session and 2 courses in the Summer. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an excellent record of teaching and service.
