The AAPA Executive Committee seeks to gather members’ thoughts regarding the AAPA’s current and future publications. Your responses to this survey will help inform the Executive Committee as we evaluate our current publications (the American Journal of Physical Anthropology and the Yearbook of Physical Anthropology) and look toward the future. Our current contract with Wiley Publishing ends in December 2020, so now is the perfect time to hear your thoughts about the AJPA and YPA, publishing an official journal of the American Association of Physical Anthropologists, and future directions that we might explore.

IMPORTANT: The AAPA does not own the AJPA, although it has been the official journal of the association since the inception of the AAPA. Historically, this has been a successful arrangement, but each new contract requires careful evaluation, especially in the current publication climate, regarding potential disadvantages to editorial autonomy and journal policy issues, and revenue earned by the AAPA that directly supports our activities. The AAPA is currently renegotiating our contract with Wiley to publish the AJPA.

Please fill in the following survey. Questions are grouped within three categories, the first providing general and anonymous information about you, the second relating to editorial policies, and the third relating to publication policies. Please read the questions in their entirety as there may be contingencies.

Regular member includes qualifying for Contingent/PostDoc, Retired, and Qualifying Country membership fees

i.e., authors do not know the identity of reviewers and reviewers do not know the identity of authors. Please note that Associate Editors & the Editor-in-Chief must know the identity of authors

This and the following four category percentages should add up to 100

Note: The AAPA owns the Yearbook, while Wiley owns the AJPA

Note: This would mean that the AJPA would not be the official journal of the Association and that AAPA members may have access to the AJPA content through their institutions.
