The Department of Anthropology (http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/anthropology) at Hunter College, City University of New York, seeks to hire two Lecturers in Biological Anthropology. Primary roles will include teaching introductory Biological Anthropology courses or leading multi-section introductory labs, and teaching upper-level undergraduate seminars. The ability to teach Human Biology (including Human Anatomy and related topics) is preferred for one of these positions, though not required. For each position specialization is open—we seek to hire dedicated teachers with excellent knowledge in their subject and a commitment to teaching students from diverse backgrounds, whose interests will complement and reinforce the Department’s strengths.
These positions are full-time appointments with a renewable contract and eligibility for a Certificate of Continuous Service after five years. Each position has a teaching load of 24 teaching credits per academic year (4/4 teaching load, or four 3-credit classes per semester), and includes an expectation of service on programmatic, departmental, divisional, and college committees. Student advising duties, if any, will count toward the teaching load. Some evening or weekend responsibilities may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS One of these positions will be a Doctoral Lecturer and the other may be a Lecturer or Doctoral Lecturer. Ph.D. degree in Biological Anthropology or related field is required for appointment as Doctoral Lecturer. Candidates without a PhD will be considered for appointment as Lecturer, for which a BA is required and a research-based MA strongly preferred.
The preferred candidates will have experience teaching undergraduate courses in Biological Anthropology, especially introductory courses, as well as experience in a college setting with diverse communities. We also seek candidates who can provide leadership in curricular initiatives, implement innovative teaching methods, and participate in program assessment, while pursuing service, public communication, or scholarship to advance learning in Biological Anthropology. Candidates must have an interest in working in a multicultural, urban higher education setting.
COMPENSATION Salary commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience within the range of title/s (Lect.: $51,021-$91,027; Doc. Lect.: $55,677-$96,351).
