The Department of Archaeology is seeking to appoint a full-time, 18-month Teaching Associateship in Biological Anthropology from the 15th of March 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter, in order to provide maternity leave cover and strengthen and support undergraduate and graduate teaching in Biological Anthropology. The Temporary Teaching Associate will be based in the Department of Archaeology at the Henry Wellcome Building on Fitzwilliam Street, Cambridge.

The Teaching Associate will be expected to support teaching and the academic staff in Biological Anthropology. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to:

Contribute lectures to the paper B1 Humans in Biological Perspective Contribute lectures to Natural Sciences Tripos Part I Evolution and Behaviour paper Organise and deliver practicals and trips for core papers in Biological Anthropology Organise supervisions for all core papers in Biological Anthropology Contribute lectures to second year core papers for the Biological Anthropology track of the Archaeology Tripos, and the Natural Science Tripos, Biological and Biomedical Science BBS Major in Human Evolution, Ecology and Behaviour: (1) B2 Human Ecology and Behaviour; (2) B3 Human Evolution; (3) B4 Comparative Human Biology Give revision classes for some papers Contribute some small-group teaching and support for the MPhil in Human Evolutionary Studies Act as a second marker for examinations and coursework assignments for undergraduate and MPhil courses Supervise 1-3 undergraduate dissertations relevant to their expertise Supervise 1-2 MPhil dissertations relevant to their expertise The successful candidate should have a broad knowledge and familiarity with Biological Anthropology, substantial teaching experience that includes supervisory roles, experience in research projects in the field, and a good knowledge of quantitative methods in the biological sciences.

Candidates will need to show evidence of the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Good first degree and a doctorate or equivalent experience in a relevant subject area. Evidence of ability to teach the subject effectively at Undergraduate and Masters level broadly within the field of Biological Anthropology. Good organisational abilities Ability to play an effective role in the life and work of the Department. Ability to work as part of a team. The deadline for application is 16 February 2022.
