The department of Medical Anatomical Sciences at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific-Northwest (COMP-Northwest) in Lebanon, Oregon, invites applications for a full-time, assistant/associate professor, faculty position (tenure-track). This position is well suited for a candidate who has specific education and research focus in anatomical sciences, including gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, embryology, and/or histology.

Candidates are expected to have earned a doctorate in anatomy or a related field and possess a strong record of excellence in teaching and research. Priority consideration will be given to applicants with experience teaching pre-doctoral MD/DO students. Experience in human cadaver dissection is expected. The applicant is also expected to demonstrate the ability to establish an active research program with potential to seek and acquire extramural funding.

Additional expectations include the ability to deliver and facilitate case-based or team-based learning, both in-person and through a virtual medium. Academic appointment at the level of assistant or associate will be commensurate with the candidate's background and experience.

Responsibilities

1. Full-time teaching load at multiple levels of anatomy instruction through lecture and laboratory courses. 2. Collaborating with other faculty on curriculum development in a team-based environment 3. Establish and maintain an active research program. 4. Mentor graduate and/or professional students in research projects in the applicant's area of expertise. 5. Participate in the instruction of any courses offered by the department by arrangement with the appropriate block directors. 6. Assist in the preparation and maintenance of material and educational assets used by the Department of Medical Anatomical Sciences, including assisting in the setup and grading of Gross Anatomy laboratory examinations. 7. Serve on committees and provide administrative support at the behest of the dean and request of the department chair. 8. Promote, by precept and example, a general atmosphere within the College of respect for knowledge, thought and inquiry. 9. The faculty member has the right and obligation to participate in scheduled meetings of the General Faculty. Election to the Faculty Senate and election or appointment to committees should be considered a privilege and faculty members are expected to share in these responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

Education: PhD degree or equivalent in the anatomical sciences or medical degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Experience: - 2 years teaching experience at an accredited institute of higher learning. - Independent cadaver dissection and preparation of anatomy instructional material

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those individuals possessing experience teaching MD/DO students. Preference will be given to those individuals interested in including students in active research projects.
