The Department of Biological Sciences, University of Notre Dame, invites applications for a NSF-funded postdoctoral position to be supervised by Dr. Matt Ravosa. To explore the role of encephalization on skull development, this experimental study will compare and contrast the osteogenic potential and mechanosensitivity of primary mouse perinatal cranial osteoblasts loaded singularly or in co-culture with site-matched dura mater cells. The position will begin between September 15 to December 1, 2019 and will be for up to 3 years. Applicants must possess a PhD, or be nearly completed, in a scientific discipline that trains one to conduct integrative research in bioengineering, biomechanics, functional morphology, ontogeny, evolutionary morphology, cell biology, molecular biology, and/or bioanthropology. Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in tissue culture (especially primary culture of connective tissues), Flexcell loading analysis, as well as a willingness to participate in graduate and undergraduate mentoring and research.
