The Committee for Community Partnership, formerly the Repatriation Committee, changed its name in August 2020 to reflect its evolving role. The long-term mission of the committee is to improve the interaction of scientists with descendant and other impacted communities with respect to human remains, especially those from Indigenous, marginalized, or underrepresented groups. While repatriation continues to be a significant concern for both the AABA and the committee, the new name reflects our focus not just on reacting to past wrongs, but constructing proactive models to conduct science in concert with community partnerships going forward.
