AAPA: First Annual Women’s Mentoring Workshop

April 9, 2014 – Calgary, AB. 1-5pm Hyatt, Calgary. Mid-Career Women’s Mentoring Workshop. Advancing to Leadership Roles: Challenges & Opportunities: This workshop will focus on strategies to help mid-career women navigate increasingly complex environments as they assume additional roles and responsibilities while striving to maintain work/life balance. It will also guide participants to develop and refine their own mentoring practices to assist the next generation of women physical anthropologists.

 

Participation in the workshop will involve interactive activities and some work completed ahead of time; participants are expected to attend the entire event. You will hear from, and have the opportunity to ask questions of, three women leaders in our field who will present their personal stories, describe their paths to leadership, and address the challenges and opportunities that propelled their careers forward or redirected their career paths:

Enrollment is free and limited to participants at the rank of Associate Professor (with or without tenure) or equivalent. To inquire about the workshop or to register, please send an email to Robin Bernstein (Robin.Bernstein@colorado.edu) and Andrea Taylor (andrea.taylor@duke.edu). Please include a brief statement describing what you hope to gain from the workshop. Deadline for registration is February 24, 2014 and space is limited; acceptance emails and further details on the workshop will be sent in early March.
