The department of Anthropology, University of Utah, in Salt Lake City, Utah invites applications for a new tenured faculty position to serve as chair of a small, dynamic and productive department. Rank is open, but we seek a mid-career scholar committed to empirical approaches to the discipline and who has an active research program. Academic administration experience is preferred. Sub-specialty is open, although the successful candidate will have research skills and orientation that are synergistic with existing departmental strengths, including the department’s evolutionary orientation, and whose vision and leadership can broaden the department’s research and training programs in the future.

Review of applications will begin October 15, 2012. The position will remain open until filled. Position availability is contingent on final budgetary approval.
