The Department of Anthropology seeks to hire an Assistant Professor in Biological Anthropology, specializing in human biology. Beginning Fall 2013, the successful candidate is expected to teach courses including introductory biological anthropology, an intermediate level course emphasizing micro- and macroevolution, human variation, and courses in her/his own research area. The Department emphasizes an integrated four-field approach to anthropology and is associated with the CUNY PhD Program in Anthropology. The Department of Anthropology has 16 full time faculty, 175 majors in the BA program, and an enrollment of 2,500 undergraduate students in anthropology courses every semester. The faculty is unionized, and CUNY offers an excellent benefits package.​

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD is required at time of appointment. Demonstrated excellence in research and undergraduate teaching are required.  Preference is for research in human adaptation, demography, growth and development, nutrition, health and disease, or for the use of genetics as a tool to explore human adaptation.  Applicants should have research interests that complement those of the current faculty (see departmental website at http://qcpages.qc.cuny.edu/ANTHRO/).​
